formally a part of, and known as, the Alliance Manufacturing Company, Genie is one of the most recognized and trusted garage door opener brands. The Alliance Company was founded in the 1920s and began production of electronic equipment. Started in the mid 1950's, Genie was the first mass-produced remote controlled garage door opener. It quickly became the innovation, design and safety leader in the field.

As the product refinements increased, Genie became more appealing to mass retailers by the 1970's. Soon after, Genie began to manufacture other home products, entered other markets and changed its name to Genie Home Products. In the early 1990's the Overhead Door Corporation, a rival company, bought out Genie, but kept the moniker.

Today, Genie is still the leading the garage door opener market for residential and commercial uses. Constantly refining and innovation its product line to be safer and more convenient to consumers. The Intellicode system and Safe-T-Beam are just two of the advancement Genie has made in the field.
